Trendspotting-Gold Metallic Minidresses Under $50

By FashionWithoutGuilt · November 4, 2009 · 0 Comments · 5 Views

Gold Metallic Minidresses

Rise and Shine!!! Metallics and Mini Dresses are back with a vengeance. The trend this season is sexy shine. As pictured Kim Kardashian and Elisa Dushku are showing us great examples of this trend done right. Forever 21 and AmericanApparel have some great alternatives we can all afford.
When choosing metallics there are a few things to consider:
1. The type of material of the garment-Fabrics with shine if not chosen wisely can come across as low quality(cheap). To prevent this, try the item on first. Is there a stretch to the fabric or do you just look like roll of aluminum foil?
2. No Shine Overload-I am all for glitz but sometimes there can be too much. If you are going to incorporate shine into your ensemble, please use discretion. Do not ever wear this fabric as a top and bottom. The fashion police will be called immediately. Choose one garment and stick to it.
3. Have Fun-Metallics are all about fun and making statement. So OWN IT AND BE FIERCE.

Frugal Tip Monday-Ways to Make and Save Extra Money for The Holiday Shopping Season

By FashionWithoutGuilt · November 2, 2009 · 0 Comments · 2 Views

The Holidays are here again. (I know it seems like you were here planning for Christmas just a few months ago) Spending lots of money is on the front of everyone's mind right now. But Fashion Without Guilt is here with a few ideas to help you save or earn a few extra bucks to contribute to your holiday shopping.
Reselling Items around your home-In a previous Frugal Tip Monday I have written about Taking A Closet Inventory for Fall. Going through and getting rid of things that you know are not going to be of use to you anymore, Get Rid of It. As they say "what is one man's trash, is another man's treasure" so it's time to get selling. Reselling your own items is a great way to earn some extra cash. An article written by Ramit Sethi of Iwillteachyoutoberich instructs you on some key areas to make your ebay listing more valuable.
I personally am going to take my own advice. I am going through my closet and reselling alot of items that I know I have no use for. Wish me Luck, I will let everyone know the name of my ebay store very soon. Everything will be affordable.
Another online avenue for earning extra revenue is listing your items on Craigslist. This is a free site to list your items. ***Unlike Ebay where you ship the items to your customers, Craigslist is somewhat more based on a local scale. So if you are going to meet a potential buyer please be safe and make smart decisions before meeting a random person from the Internet.***
Please share some of your ideas on saving for this Shopping Season?

Inspiration-Draped Silhouettes Under $40

By FashionWithoutGuilt · October 30, 2009 · 0 Comments · 2 Views

Draped Silhouettes are a classic trend that has transcended through time. The grecian inspired garment is a modernized remake of the toga. Draping is a great way to create illusion to a womans body to hide some unwanted imperfections. In the September Issue of Instyle Magazine, they gave some great examples to take the inspiration from runway to real life. Below are some great alternative for less.

Trendspotting-Shoulder Pads Under $90

By FashionWithoutGuilt · October 20, 2009 · 0 Comments · 6 Views
Big Shoulders are back and in full effect. I remember all of my mother shoulder pads shirts and dresses. I thought they were the most god forsaken fashion choice. Having something perched right on my shoulder to give the illusion of a women linebacker. NOT!!!
But one day I had a true awaking, I NOW LOVE SHOULDER PADS. I dont what changed for me, but the silhouette of the body with the outward tails of shoulder pads is a divine combination. I now want blazers, dresses, shirts with shoulder pads.
A great to achieve this look for less is checking your local thrift shops for some vintage finds.

Frugal Tip Monday-Shopping for Christmas Early

By FashionWithoutGuilt · October 20, 2009 · 0 Comments · 2 Views

I know. I know. Christmas? Why are you even talking about that yet. In reality it is already November. Shopping now is one way to eliminate overspending and the last minute rush. Other than some deals that surface on Black Friday prices for the most part stay the same. Unless they are handing out Free Wiis in front of Wal-Mart you will expect to pay around the price that is listed now.
Here are some tips to make your Christmas shopping this year a little less stressful:
  • Make a List-making a list is a great way to see on paper what you try to spend. When composing this list put price points beside each item and total them. This will give you a rough estimate of how much you are looking to spend this season.
  • Check for deals: Online/Papers-Scouting out deals are a great way to save. Comparison shopping is a great way to exact the best deal for your buck.
  • Budget-Having a set number in place can eliminate the urge to indulge. Paying cash only will really set a visual of what is left to spend. So please make sure you have a number that you will not exceed

Those are just some things that I have found useful for this upcoming shopping season.

Are you going to shop early this year?
